The Secret Machines have released a new non-album track to give the fans a sampling of what is to be expected from their newest album "Secret Machines". This track is sick, and if the new album is anything like it and the new songs that I have heard live, then we have a real treat coming! It may seem hasty but I'm going to predict that "Secret Machines" will be my favorite album of the year.
This community's been dead for a while, and it's a bit sad that it's being awoken with this announcement. Posted by Brandon on the message boards yesterday, for those who don't check it regularly:
I am writing to make a couple of announcements. First of all I want to let everybody know that The Secret Machines have begun work on our third album. We expect to begin recording sometime in the beginning of May. Unfortunately, I also must share that after 7 and 1/2 years of playing music together Benjamin has decided to no longer be a part of the band. It is a sad day but also an exciting one as he prepares to focus full time on his new creative venture, School of Seven Bells. He has told me that he expects to be finished with a new record very soon as well as there being plans in the works to play some shows here in New York debuting the band. Of course Josh and I wish him all the best.
Good luck, Ben! The Secret Machines definitely won't be the same without you!
Yeah, the Machines are touring the country this fall, and the whole tour is going to be "in the round" meaning the stage will be in the center of the crowd. I can't wait to see them at Warsaw in Brooklyn. I saw them in the round at the Hiro Ballroom and it was incredible. I wish I had the money and time to follow them on tour but alas I am a working man....
Sorry if this is not allowed- please delete if so. Does anyone have a copy of the Secret Machines August 2005 performance at the 9:30 club in DC that was originally broadcast on NPR? I have the complete file of both performances, but I can't split it on this computer (ancient!) and I'd really like a hard copy.
So I'm not sure why this isn't on their myspace/website, but TSM is playing a show in Richmond, VA on May 20. Tickets are $10 general admission and $35 for "gold circle" seating, I'm not really sure what that means. They're opening for The Strokes. Ticket info and other details are here.
OKAY the latest word (from a myspace bulletin) is that TSM aren't playing the show after all. Bummer.
YAY! Ten Silver Drops got an A- in Entertainment Weekly! FUCK! The only time in the near future that the Secret Machines will be anywhere near the city and anywhere near me is on the 27th at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square. And a Thrusday is not good for me getting to the city!
The Secret Machines new album Ten Silver Drops is out today in the U.K. You can get it at your local record store and if they are sold out it may also be ordered from Amazon. The album will be released in the U.S. on April 25th but is out on iTunes now for you impatient types :)
We have built an official Secret Machines MySpace group for fans to get to know one another and discuss the band, shows, or whatever else. The community is called Ten Silver Drops and can be accessed by clicking the cover image below.
